DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) – Kyle Busch has become the unwitting poster boy for NASCAR safety improvements.

Kyle Busch was involved in a multi-car crash at Daytona global Speedway, where he returned Friday for the first time since he was injured at the Florida track in February.

Busch was running in a pack of cars through Turn 2 when Brad Keselowski clipped Busch’s left rear bumper, turning him sideways.

“It’s his fault”, said Busch, who has had feuds with Keselowski in the past.

“Just looks like the #2 got into my left rear and he got away unscathed and trashed everybody else’s stuff”, simmered Busch. The bump caused Busch to get loose, resulting in a huge chain reaction wreck involving Denny Hamlin, Jamie McMurray, Greg Biffle, Trevor Bayne, Carl Edwards and Ryan Newman. At 37th, he’s 136 points out of 30th.

After the TV interview, Busch cooled his criticism of Keselowski, with whom he has developed a rivalry. “If somebody intends to do something, I’m mad as I can be about it. But if it’s an accident, then it’s an accident….” I hit the brakes to try to slow down but for some reason our auto just went straight into the wall. “It hit 270 at the line and I was shut off”.

Patrick was fastest in Happy Hour practice for the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona global Speedway Friday. “No big deal, just looking forward to another year”.

“There is a comfort level from our side, knowing we have a good group of guys that have been together since the beginning of previous year”, Buescher said. There are no old seats that exist at the Daytona worldwide Speedway anymore. The speed in final practice is a hopeful sign, and the No. 10 team will be seeking their third Top-10 finish of the season in Sunday night’s Coke Zero 400.

“I think it’s appropriate for this country to celebrate the (American) flag on its birthday”, said Joie Chitwood III, president of Daytona worldwide Speedway.

“The challenge for us was canceling track days and other rentals and things on property so we could construct on property. I think that’s trying to provide an environment that’s inclusive”.

“Race auto fans are patriots”, said Wayne Pearson.

One man was welcoming people to his lot because he was building a platform to watch the race cars. “I don’t know about getting rid of the grass”.
