Kyle Busch’s expectations modest after crash in practice

The last time NASCAR visited Michigan global Speedway back in June there was a long rain delay. this weekend is looking a little bit drier.

Numerous drivers said their cars were ill-handling in the corners during the Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway last month, with a similar high drag aero package which included the rear spoiler at 9 inches, compared to 6 in other races.

Jones will race for Kyle Busch Motorsports in the No. 4 Toyota Tundra truck. “We just learned about how the draft was and what kind of instances you could try to put yourself in and what kind of instances you didn’t want to be in”.

“Well just have to adjust our (backup) auto for being in the back of the field, ” he said.

“I’m really excited to have the opportunity to win a race in my home state, at my home track in Michigan at the Cup level”.

Despite finishing 41st due to mechanical issues at Watkins Glen global, Jeff Gordon sits 13th on the Chase Grid, 58 points above the cutoff line with four races left in NASCAR’s regular season. He needs to be in the top 30 at the end of the regular season to make the Chase for the Sprint Cup, and right now he’s six points ahead of 31st-place Cole Whitt. There are four more races before the cut-off. Matt Kenseth took the pole for tomorrow’s (Sunday’s) Pure Michigan 400, with teammates Denny Hamlin and Carl Edwards making it a sweep of the top three starting positions for J-G-R. In the spring of 2009, Mark Martin became the driver to start deepest in the field when he started 32nd.

“It’s a lot more drag versus downforce studies”. The Joe Gibbs Racing star has said in the past he thinks there’s no reason to have grass near racing surfaces, and he addressed the issue again Saturday – with a heavy dose of sarcasm. “It’s kind of a different challenge for sure”.

Saturday will also see the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in action at Michigan, while over at Mid-Ohio Sports vehicle Course the Xfinity Series will be in action competing on the permanent road course later today.

The proceeds will finance veteran transition training at Macomb Community College. “That’s one of my favorite races of the year to watch”.

Kyle Busch isn’t a big fan of grass at racetracks. “It’s not really that challenging for me”.

Busch and his wife, Samantha, hosted him at the truck race. “We seemed to learn a lot in qualifying trim, and hopefully that’s going to give us an idea of what we need to do”.
