HAMPTON, Ga. – Shaking off the disappointment of losing the Sprint Cup pole, Kyle Busch claimed his first Xfinity Series victory at Atlanta Motor Speedway by holding off Kyle Larson.
For the majority of the laps on Sunday in NASCAR’s Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 the focus will be on winning. “I’ve only run a certain amount of races in the Sprint Cup Series so far, so any time I can get more laps and more experience, it’s always going to help”. It was tested to wide acclaim by drivers and fans in 2015 at races at Darlington (South Carolina) Raceway and Kentucky Speedway. For the fans it will be about watching their favorite drivers and trying to will them to get into the best position to win.
Johnson doesn’t have as much upside as Joey Logano, but he does have plenty of points to gain after qualifying 19th. With the market’s viability despite its historical and cultural significance in the heart of Southern stock vehicle culture ever-scrutinized, Clark said “it’s kind of nip and tuck” if sales improve from last season. “You’ve got the best drivers, best teams in the country”.
Practice and qualifying have been entertaining this weekend, with every vehicle sideways or bobbling through the corners. “Obviously Atlanta is a special place to me because I’ve raced Bandoleros and Legends cars here on the front straightaway”. In 2015. the weather for the Atlanta race was cloudy and very chilly with some rain and drizzle. After that fantastic finish a week ago at Daytona I believe this is the flawless follow-up track.
Brad Keselowski’s record in Atlanta isn’t the greatest statistically with just one top five and three top ten finishes but he did race really well under the low downforce rules last season. His non top ten finishes were 33rd in 2010, and 19th in 2014.
“I just don’t like the Busch brothers”, he said.
He won the second race of the season, en route to five on the year, and became a stealthily dominant auto all season. I was tempted to use him this week but Matt Kenseth took his place on my team. Air time is 4 p.m. (ET).
“Very stout”, the 23-year-old Buescher said when asked last month to rate the competition for Rookie of the Year. Team Penske has been one of the top teams in recent years when running on the mile and a half circuits, but it looks like Joe Gibbs Racing is now at the top of the mountain. He will be slated as an A driver because of his admirable 5th place finish in a beat-up vehicle at Daytona last week.
Finished 11th at Daytona. Part of Kahne’s success has been strong starts, as his he averages a starting position of 9th at Atlanta. If you don’t think he will pull off at least a top give it’s time to get your head checked. Look for good things this year from Carl.
The low downforce aero rules should suit Kyle Larson extremely well as he is not afraid to slide around as evidenced by his sprint vehicle background.
Patrick mentioned that she’s specifically looking forward to working more with first-year crew chief Scott, after deeming Daytona “a good start” following an incident with the No. 16 of Greg Biffle that forced her into a second consecutive finish of 35 at the “World Center of Racing”.

What’s also new for Elliott is the fact that he’s now driving the No. 24 Chevrolet that had four-time champion Gordon behind the wheel from 1992 through last season.
