Even if the Patriots largely have their way with the Bears throughout the practices and in the game, it will be an experience that will leave a positive impression.

“He’s been fighting through some knee soreness”, Bears coach John Fox told reporters on Sunday at Halas Hall. It’s a time-honored tradition in professional competition that the quickest way to get better is by finding strong opponents and emulating what they do. At least then they’ll know that maybe they aren’t as good as they thought and will have to work doubly hard to get where they want to go. “We don’t do a lot of game-planning, but there’s a familiarity there that helps as they go into the game”. Last summer the Bears traveled to Indianapolis to practice with and play against the Colts in the preseason.

The Chicago Bears opened their preseason on Thursday night with a 22-0 loss at the hands of the Denver Broncos.

“We’re looking for a big leap from Week 1 to Week 2”, Fox said.

Bears coach John Fox said the team is leaving Fuller behind “for further evaluation” to determine the cause of his knee soreness that was previously unreported.

Fuller, the third-year player and 2014 first-round pick, has missed some time in training camp, but not in an extended period. “We’re going to look at it a little bit more in-depth and see how that materializes”.

Jacoby Glenn took the bulk of his reps at corner, although rookie Deiondre Hall could be in line to take over Fuller’s injury ends up being severe.

“You’re concerned about anyone that’s injured”, Fox said.

The Patriots played in their fifth-straight AFC championship game last season and remain one of the most talented and best coached organizations out there.

Bears fans would kill for New England’s success rate the last 15 years, but as they know, it starts at the top with owner Robert Kraft and Belichick. It was two preseasons ago that Bennett choke-slammed Fuller during a practice. He also set a Northern Iowa career record with four interception return touchdowns.

“In his first test he earned more time, and we’ll see where that takes us.”
