Walker, 26, followed left back Danny Rose, midfielders Eric Dier, Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Tom Carroll, and young prospect Harry Winks in committing his future to Spurs.

The England global right-back described the club as “like my second home now” adding that he was “happy to commit my future” to Tottenham.

Walker joined Tottenham from Sheffield United in 2009, spending time back on loan at Bramall Lane, as well as temporary spells at QPR and Aston Villa, before cementing a regular berth in the team under Harry Redknapp. He expressed his delight at signing the new contract, admitting “it is a great honour” for him to extend his contract at the club and he wanted to say “thank you to the chairman and manager for putting their faith in me”. I’m fully enjoying it.

“It’s like my second home now and I’m happy to commit my future to Tottenham”, he said.

Tottenham finished last season third in the Premier League, qualifying automatically for the Champions League group stage after being title contenders for much of the campaign.

Pochettino’s men are unbeaten in the Premier League so far having won three and drawn two of their fixtures.
