Kyrgios gives Australia Davis Cup lead
“That’s one thing Nick does very well”.

Making his first Davis Cup appearance since a forgettable performance in last year’s quarter-final win over Kazakhstan in Darwin, Kyrgios was more inconvenienced by a nose bleed than his lowly-ranked opponent. He plays less tournaments and plays really well at them as opposed to me.
Australia has 28 Davis Cup wins in total, second only to the United States (32), but last won the title in 2003 when Hewitt was the star of a team including Mark Philippoussis, Todd Woodbridge and Wayne Arthurs that defeated Spain in the final. I played a few more tournaments and I’m motivated to keep travelling, which is something I have to target next year: “playing definitely less”.
Sam Groth and John Peers will play the Slovakian doubles team of Martin and Igor Zelenay on Saturday before reverse singles on Sunday.
“It would be good for Australian tennis for us to win the Davis Cup again, and I think there is a good chance that that will happen”, Rosewall said.
Without an ailing Kyrgios, Australia lost to the USA at Kooyong in March in the first round of this year’s competition.
“I’ve really enjoyed it and it’s something I’m really good at”.
Like his Slovakian singles partner Andrej Martin though, Kovalik is ranked outside the top 100 in the world and has traditionally struggled, and flat out avoided the grass court throughout the course of his career.
“I’m feeling really good”.
Kyrgios, Australia’s top-ranked player, has been drawn to play Slovakia’s No.2 Andrej Martin in Friday’s opening singles rubber, while Tomic will face Slovakian No.1 Jozef Kovalik in the second singles match. “I’ve been practising a lot and I’ve been hitting them well and there’s no signs that indicate that I wouldn’t be healthy to play”, Kyrgios said. “I’m really excited to be a part of it from Friday with Nick”, Tomic said.

Nick kyrgios and Martin met once in 2014, and then celebrated the victory of the Slovak tennis player 6: 1,6: 4. “I think I was playing the best tennis of my life last week and I was a bit disappointed to pull out, but I’m ready for whatever challenges come tomorrow”.
