“LA Confidential” director Curtis Hanson found dead
The Los Angeles Police Department said officers visited Hanson’s home for a “death investigation” and Hanson was pronounced dead at the scene, apparently of natural causes.

Hanson, whose sterling adaptation of the noir classic LA Confide-ntial earned him an Oscar and vaulted him to A-list status as a screenwriter and director, died on September 20 in his home in the Hollywood hills, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
In 1997, Hanson produced, co-wrote, and directed the adaptation of James Ellroy’s L.A. Confidential and the resulting film has stood the test of time as one of the best movies of the ’90s and one of the great neo-noirs.
Curtis Hanson, the director of “8 Mile” and “L.A”. Basinger would win for best supporting actress, while Hanson and Brian Helgeland prevailed in the adapted screenplay category.
It was a huge hit at the time, starring an wonderful cast that included Kevin Spacey, Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce, James Cromwell, Danny DeVito and David Strathairn.
Rob Lowe worked with Hanson on 1990’s Bad Influence and tweeted: “It was an honour to make “Bad Influence” with Curtis Hanson”. The guy was incredibly underrated.
Hanson’s latest directing releases were Too Big To Fail in 2011 and Chasing Mavericks in 2012, starring Gerard Butler. Confidential, 8 Mile, and In Her Shoes, has died.
Hanson as well said that he was conscious not to box the film in as a “rap movie”. “I’m lucky I got to know him”, he told Billboard.
“Thank you for believing in me and standing your ground”, Crowe said on Twitter.
Eminem paid tribute to the director. He basically made me into an actor for 8 Mile.
He made his mark on the Hollywood skyline in the 90s with the influential thriller The Hand That Rocks the Cradle and The River Wild.

Hanson is survived by his mother Beverly June Hanson, his brother Woody, his longtime partner Rebecca Yeldham, and their son Rio.
