LA Galaxy reacquire G Donovan Ricketts from Orlando SC
It’s a bit of a homecoming for Ricketts, as he started 70 regular season games for Galaxy from 2009-2011 and won MLS Goalkeeper of the Year there in 2010.

The LA Galaxy have reacquired goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts in a trade with Orlando City South Carolina.
Penedo most recently excelled in the Gold Cup tournament, leading the Panamanian team to the bronze medal, after a controversial referee decision destroyed the country’s hopes of reaching the final.
The Galaxy parted way with starting goalkeeper Jaime Penedo this week, making it an obvious move for them to go after Ricketts.
“He wanted out”, Bruce Arena, the LA Galaxy coach and general manager said. Penedo, the starting goalkeeper for Panama’s national team, was making $178,125 this season.
It’s no secret that Penedo has been upset with his contract situation all season.
It helps that Orlando City needs to create room on the roster after acquiring Adrian Winter and David Mateos from Europe.
LA Galaxy reporter Adam Serrano and Orlando Sentinel Orlando City beat man Paul Tenorio each reported Wednesday night that a deal for Ricketts with the LA Galaxy could be completed shortly.
Penedo, 33, joined the Galaxy back in August of 2013. He made 61 appearances for the club in MLS competitions, earning a 29-14-17 record, with 177 saves and 21 shutouts for Los Angeles.

Minutes before being placed on waivers, Penedo turned to Twitter to hint at the difficulty he would have in leaving the team. He played a big part in last year’s MLS Cup-winning team, but he’ll now be replaced by Brian Rowe, who took over while Penedo was at the Gold Cup.
