Los Angeles acquired Roy Hibbert and his massive salary for next season and signed Lou Williams as a free agent, but they missed big on the star talents they pursued on the open market.

Indiana Pacers center Roy Hibbert (55) reacts after making a basket early in the first half during Game 7 of a first-round National Basteball Association basketball playoff series against the Atlanta Hawks in Indianapolis, Saturday, May 3, 2014.
The Indiana Pacers are reportedly finalizing terms and conditions on a trading deal that will eventually send the 7-foot-2 center to the Los Angeles Lakers, according to Yahoo Sports reporter Adrian Wojnarowski.
Pro Basketball Talk reports that Nick Young, Robert Sacre and/or Ryan Kelly could be moved to help get deals done for the Lakers. But with the Pacers looking to implement a fast-paced offense next season along with the goal of staying under the luxury threshold, Hibbert’s future with the team was expected to be moved right after the end of 2014-15 National Basteball Association season.
Williams signed for a reported three years and $21 million. The Mavericks previously had interest in Hibbert before the team agreed with DeAndre Jordan, but all that has broken down with Jordan going back to the Clippers.
His 15.5 points per game last season was a career high.

The Lakers also signed second-round pick Anthony Brown, the team’s 34th overall selection in June, to a multiyear deal. Randle is going to get limited minutes, as he is coming back from an injury, while Clarkson and Russell likely will alternate starting at point guard.
