The Lakers entered the preseason with 19 players on their crowded roster. According to Metta World Peace – Bryant hasn’t spoken to reporters since he got injured in an October 13 exhibition game – it, uh, didn’t didn’t go well for his teammates.
Peace is expected to provide the experience and toughness particularly on the defensive end, not to mention look over promising sophomore forward Julius Randle.
World Peace’s return to the Lakers includes a long-term plan to transition into an assistant coach for the franchise, league sources told Yahoo.
Whether he’s a bear, black mamba or any other deadly creature, Bryant certainly impressed head coach Byron Scott, who said his conditioning was “better than I thought it would be” after 11 days without scrimmaging.
During World Peace’s four years with the Lakers, he averaged 9.9 points and 4.0 rebounds.
Brown struggled in Las Vegas Summer League and then in 6 preseason games for the Lakers, in which he was second on the team in turnover ratio, giving the ball away on 17.5 percent of his possessions.

Bryant has been nursing a lower leg bruise for the last two weeks, but his participation in full practice bodes well for his availability for Wednesday’s opener against the Timberwolves.
