Labor divides over Democratic presidential contest

Bernie Sanders, I-Vt, stand together before the start of the NBC, YouTube Democratic presidential debate at the Gaillard Center in Charleston, S.C. The Democratic presidential campaigns of Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders reached an agreement in principle on Saturday to hold another presidential debate next week in New Hampshire and three more later this spring.

Over the past year, Clinton’s lead has gone from a commanding 38-point advantage to now running neck-and-neck with Sanders in a state that she was favoured to win. On that issue, he has a nine percentage point edge over Clinton, who’s viewed as honest by 55 percent of Democrats.

Though Sanders is gaining ground with Democrat voters, Clinton maintains a commanding lock on the party’s leadership.

Sanders and his supporters contend that Clinton’s backing merely reflects her ability to win over the establishment. Also Thursday, Clinton was endorsed by the Latino Victory Fund, a super PAC that promotes Latino voter outreach and political participation.

In previewing the new ad Wednesday night, a statement from Ms. Clinton’s campaign noted her support for a bipartisan Senate immigration overhaul bill in 2013.

He said that in the 2014 midterms, the most successful Democratic candidates were ones who embraced the Obama administration-and that when it comes down to it, things aren’t almost as bad in the country as some candidates suggest. “I think he realizes he can’t break into her support more in Clark County and he’s going to the rurals”. “She loves the President, he loves her and all that stuff”, Sanders said in an interview with CNN contributor Marc Lamont Hill, which will air on BET at 10 a.m. Sunday, according to excerpts from that interview provided by the network. The Denver Post reported Clinton’s “once-confident” campaign was “tempering expectations in a state where Bernie Sanders is poised to make a big showing in the March 1 caucus”.

Immigration dominated the discussion at the town hall, the last major forum for Clinton and Sen.

“I always knew that Hillary wasn’t going to win New Hampshire”, Irani said. “She has organization. They know the state well”, said David Plouffe, a former Obama campaign manager who is in Las Vegas to rally support for Clinton.

Many Clinton supporters question whether Sanders could win the general election. I smell something much more pungent from the Clinton campaign: “fear”. We obviously talk about immigration, but that’s not the number one priority for – at least that I’ve seen with the Latino demographic. “It’s been consistent since day one”, she added, saying that Clinton has simply tried to “use” the water crisis in Flint, Michigan, where lead-tainted water hit communities of color hard.
