Labour faces wipeout: Theresa May plans snap election to destroy party
The peer trashed Mr Corbyn’s claim, which he is using as a key plank of his re-election bid, that he had forced the Government into a series of U-turns on tax credits, housing legislation and trade unions laws.

Ms Malhotra, former shadow chief secretary to the Treasury, said: “The reason why we’re so concerned is because this was done without our knowledge, without our permission”.
The implications of this are extremely serious.
“I want to be clear, if you are a member and you engage in abusive behaviour towards other members, it will be investigated and you could be suspended while that investigation is carried out”.
Revealing she had worked mainly on those issues with MPs now opposed to Mr Corbyn, she added: “There is a role for a leader to praise the team who have done the hard work and heavy lifting on these issues rather than just to claim the credit”.
Michael Dugher MP, a former adviser to ex-Labour PM Gordon Brown, said: “I think she’ll be persuaded to seize the chance to go to the country sooner rather than later – maybe as early as October – if Jeremy Corbyn is still leader”.
In her statement, Ms Malhotra said: “I have discovered that members of staff working for John McDonnell and Jeremy Corbyn have gained unauthorised entry into my office in parliament”.
“It is a month since Seema Malhotra resigned as shadow chief secretary to the Treasury, and the office is intended for the person holding that position”.
The paper says its undercover reporter was told by an official from Momentum that the Muslim Public Affairs Committee (MPAC) could help him drum up support for the Labour leader.
The complaint comes after more than 40 female Labour MPs wrote to Mr Corbyn saying he had failed to do enough to prevent “disgusting” threats against members.
Mr Corbyn’s closest colleague said they both would quit the Opposition frontbench.
Members responsible for abuse will also be investigated and could be suspended while this work takes place, Mr McNicol added. “Every Labour leader who loses an election usually goes”, he said.
But those with a vote in Labour’s leadership contest may want to consider that Kinnock, a strong Smith backer who recently talked of taking Labour along the road to power, actually presided over two general election defeats. That’s just so distressing, it’s unacceptable.
Speaking on the Andrew Marr Show, Mr Corbyn’s right-hand man looked directly into the camera to make his appeal for party unity – and to hit out at those responsible for implicating a junior member of his staff in the office access controversy.

However, the survey by the Labour History Research Unit at Anglia Ruskin University uncovered very different results when councillors were asked how local members and supporters will vote in the leadership contest now underway.
