Labour Party Conference: Corbyn calls for “fairer society” in speech
Mr Corbyn told the Brighton conference: “We need to renew our party in Scotland“.

“I think he brought across a more pragmatic approach, like with Trident, he effectively said he won’t impose his views on the party – I was pleased with that”.
He again called on Cameron to intervene with the “Saudi regime” to stop the beheading and crucifixion of Ali Mohammed al-Nimr for taking part in an anti-government demonstration at the age of 17. And while you’re about it terminate that bid for our country to run prison services in that country.
Labour does at least have time to deal with that, Syria on the other hand requires a few imminent decisions.
He later went on to quote the “great Nigerian writer Ben Okri”, saying: “The most authentic thing about us is our capacity to create, to overcome, to endure, to transform, to love…”
“The self-employed should get support and have eligibility to maternity leave and sickness”. He also pledged a review of Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs, the United Kingdom tax authority, and he said he wants Labour to have access to government and Bank of England economic forecasting models when in opposition.
Jeremy Corbyn promised a new kind of politics – a gentler politics.
Four months after Labour suffered a crushing election defeat to David Cameron’s Conservatives, Mr Corbyn was chosen as party leader two weeks ago.
The MP for Islington North said: [I want] a kinder, more inclusive, bottom up, not top down politics, in every community and work place, not just in Westminster. “Straight talking. Honest”.
“I am delighted that John McDonnell as Shadow Chancellor has convened this group to advise the leadership as we set out our economic vision”. “We believe there is a better way”.
“The new Trade Union Bill is also a fundamental attack on human rights and is in breach of the ILA and the ECHR”, he said. These included housing, schooling, social care, tax credits, low wages and the bedroom tax. In the spirit of solidarity upon which our movement was founded, I say come back and help us succeed.
“He was really showing what he believes in and talked about important issues like steel at Redcar, but he was also very amusing at times”.
And he warned the Tories were trying to “gerrymander” the next general election by wiping 2 million people off the electoral register.

Mr Corbyn made clear he would not support the expansion of grammar schools ahead of the government’s announcement on whether to give the green light to a new annex in Sevenoaks.
