Lacy, Packers too much for Cowboys
With Mike McCarthy calling the plays, the Packers offense used the ground game to eclipse the 200 yard mark for the first time since 2009. The Packers piled up yards against the Cowboys and produced their highest scoring output in almost a month.

On the season, the Green Bay Packers average 229.8 yards in passing and 111.7 yards in rushing.
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) – With his offense mired by inconsistency this season, Packers coach Mike McCarthy decided to make a change this week.
“It just shows when everybody’s on the same page, the possibilities are endless”, Lacy said. He has four scores and two interceptions over his last three games.
The big pregame news, of course, was the change in play-caller. “We all make a couple bad decisions along the way, and that doesn’t change my opinion of Eddie. But professionally, it was what I felt I needed to do”.
In recent weeks, McCarthy has been spending more time in meetings and suggesting things to Clements, who oversaw the NFL’s 22nd-ranked offense in the first 12 games.
Aaron Rodgers has been key to the success of the Packers this season.
Although Rodgers said he checked fewer plays at the line, his influence on the game was pervasive as always. “It’s been about the execution. We just didn’t execute to the capacity that I know we’re capable of”. “We had a challenge today against a good football team at their place”.
Whatever the reason, the Packers pulled away in the end. Dallas’ touchdown came on Robert Turbin’s 7-yard run midway through the third quarter to make it 14-7.
With their 28-7 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, the Cowboys fell to 4-9.
ABOUT THE COWBOYS (4-8): Coach Jason Garrett didn’t take the bait when asked to discuss owner Jerry Jones’ critical comments following Monday’s win. “That’s the way you do it in the National Football League, and we weren’t up to it tonight”. The Packers have had some ball security issues recently and the team has been working on that heading into the game this week.
The Cowboys’ only touchdown drive Sunday went for 80 yards, but they ran the ball on every play. He also had three carries for nine yards.
The rainy weather conditions in the Bears game at Lambeau Field played to the advantage of Chicago. Cassel completed only 13 of 29 pass attempts for 114 yards as Bryant was held to only one catch for 9 yards. That set up third and goal from the 3 and Cassel’s end-zone interception by Sam Shields on a slant to Dez Bryant. Combined with the Minnesota Vikings losing two consecutive games, the Packers can now win the division.
In fact, in Bryant’s eight games this season, he has caught more than half his targets exactly twice, in games against the Giants and the Eagles.
Referees made the right call then, and they appeared to make the right call Sunday… but maaaan if it doesn’t feel like Bryant should get at least one of these calls to go his way one of these days.
Dallas was forced to punt after the replay reversal and Green Bay scored on its next possession. Darren McFadden had two long runs, comprising more than half of that 171 yard total – a 50 yard run in the first half, and a 45 yard run in the second half. The production from Lacy (24 carries for 124 yards and a touchdown) and Starks (11 carries for 71 yards and a touchdown) helped open up the passing game at times.

The Packers opened the game in a two-back, offset-I formation, often with Eddie Lacy directly behind Rodgers in the “pistol” location. Let’s hope the rain doesn’t play too much of a factor and the Packers are able to succumb to Mother Nature this time.
