Lady Gaga and Al Roker take Polar Plunge in Chicago

Though the high Sunday was a not-very-polar 50 degrees, global warming has not yet turned the Chicago Polar Plunge into the Chicago Normal Plunge; the lake was an inhospitable 36 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Yesterday afternoon, the annual Polar Plunge challenge returned to Lake Michigan in Chicago, and Lady Gaga and her Fiance took to the waters once again.

She captioned this pic: “We love the city of Chicago and the Polar Plunge for The Special Olympics”.

To begin with Taylor carried her out on his back as Gaga held her nose waiting for the icy cold water to hit her. “These men and women are fearless and powerful”. The fifth annual event raises money to support Special Olympic athletes in the Inland Empire.

“I get nervous every run”, Jordan Legrand said, a participant. “The Polar Plunge is quintessential Chicago”. Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel appeared at the event but did not take the plunge. Previous celebrity plungers included Vince Vaughn in 2015 and Jimmy Fallon in 2014.

“The Vancouver Police Department and law enforcement agencies throughout B.C. have been supporting Special Olympics for decades, so when this event came out we jumped on board right away and we are super happy to be here today supporting the athletes.”
