Lady Gaga Promises ‘Unprecedented’ Grammy Performance

Apparently, Lady Gaga was already booked to perform at the Grammys prior to Bowie’s death and when he passed, producer Ken Ehrlich spoke with Lady Gaga and her manager about making her performance a tribute to Bowie, which will cover three or four of his songs.

“This is obviously an ambitious performance and we’re all really excited about it”, he said in a video preview.

Lady Gaga “wouldn’t be here” if it weren’t for David Bowie because his example showed her she wasn’t “too weird”.

“We’ve used know-how to virtually be an extension of Gaga”.

The singer opened up about her upcoming tribute to Bowie after his recent death, saying, “It’s hard to talk about”.

The staging of this tribute was given to guitarist Nile Rodgers, a longtime friend of David Bowie who also produced the album Let’s Dance, released in 1983 and infused funk and disco sounds. In the previous two years she has refashioned herself as a basic crooner, teaming up with the 89-yr-previous Tony Bennett for an album and live performance tour of pop requirements.

At the weekend, the “Poker Face” hitmaker performed the USA national anthem at the Super Bowl and doesn’t think there can be a greater “honour” than singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” in public. Bowie earned 11 Grammy nominations over his career, and in 2006 he was honored with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, according to Newsweek.

When I fell in love with David Bowie, when I was living on the Lower East Side, I always felt that his glamor was something he was using to express a message to people that was very healing for their souls.

Bowie is one among a variety of outstanding musicians to have died lately.

A British tabloid reported that prolific rapper Kanye West was planning his own Bowie tribute, leading fans to start a petition against the prospect.

But the New York Post reports that industry insiders are griping that White (of the band Earth, Wind & Fire) and Natalie Cole have been banished to a video tribute package with others who died in the past year.
