Ricky Gervais has responded to suggestions that he made a transphobic joke about Caitlyn Jenner at this Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards.

Meanwhile, the Best TV Miniseries award went to BBC drama Wolf Hall, the six-part adaptation of Hilary Mantel’s award-winning novels.
Just as memorable (and certainly more meme-worthy) than her win: Leonardo DiCaprio’s reaction to it as she walked by his table. That was the most-watched Golden Globes in a decade.
Netflix received eight nominations at the 73rd Golden Globe Awards, run by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, for original programs such as “Orange is the New Black” and “Narcos”. The nominations are announced Thursday.
Gervais took to Twitter on Tuesday to dispel the argument that he was being transphobic when joking about Jenner. Last year’s victor Julianne Moore (“Still Alice”) went on to win the Oscar as well. Stallone received a standing ovation from everyone in the audience.
Sly got visibly emotional when he was named best supporting actor in a motion picture for his role in “Creed”, so much so that he forgot to thank… well, anyone from the movie.
Experts point out that neither of last year’s Globes best picture winners – “Boyhood” and “The Grand Budapest Hotel” – ended up with an Oscar.
For the drama television series, “Empire’s” Taraji Henson won as Best Actress while “Mad Men’s” Jon Hamm won as Best Actor.
“Wolf Hall” won as Best TV Movie or Limited Series while “Inside Out” was the Best Animated Feature Film.
The Gervais-led Globes evidenced little of the seriousness that marks most award shows, or the teary-eyed acceptance speeches.

Gervais was also criticized for mocking Jeffrey Tambor in Transparent and Eddie Redmayne in The Danish Girl.
