The long wait for Lady Gaga’s first real pop single in nearly three years (not counting anything from Tony Bennett collab Cheek to Cheek or her Oscar-nominated “Til It Happens To You”) is finally over.

She wrote the lyrics on a typewriter and created the song with Kevin Parker from Australian band Tame Impala and producers Mark Ronson and BloodPop. The Florence and the Machine frontwoman joined Gaga for a duet which is sure to blend their shared affinities for rock and disco.
“It wasn’t love, it wasn’t love/ It was a flawless illusion (Perfect illusion)/ Mistaken for love, it wasn’t love/ It was a ideal illusion (Perfect illusion)/ You were a ideal illusion”, GaGa sings, “Where are you?/ Cause I can’t see you/ It was a ideal illusion/ But I feel you watchin’ me/ Dilated, falling free/ In a modern ecstasy”. She’s really to me if not the best but one of the greatest vocalists in the world.
It looks like the Little Monsters will have weekend festivities as it is rumored that the first single from the Lady Gaga new album will be released in stores, download sites and streaming services this Friday.

Speaking about the track, she said: “People feel pressured to live up to that ideal illusion in their real lives”. During that time, Gaga mostly focused on her acting career, starring in “Muppets Most Wanted” as herself and in the Sin City sequel, among others. “It’s about wanting people to re-establish that human connection”. We’ll likely see the album before the end of the year.
