Lake Chad blasts blamed on Boko Haram kill at least 37
Authorities blamed the extremist Boko Haram group from neighboring Nigeria for staging the attacks in the western village of Baga Sola, according to a communique from government spokesman Hassan Sylla Bakari. “We don’t have a figure yet (for the number of wounded)”, a health worker at a hospital in the border town on Lake Chad told Reuters.

Lake Chad is a large, shallow body of water bordered by Niger, Nigeria, Chad, and Cameroon.
“There were three explosions at the Baga Sola market and two explosions near the Dar-es-Salam refugee camp”.
The attacks took place in Baga Sola village near the Nigerian border, with the terror sect Boko Haram suspected as the brain behind the insurgency.
Since then Chad has banned people from wearing the full-face veil, fearing attackers use the garment to cover explosives, and reintroduced the death penalty for acts of terrorism. The footage also claims to show Boko Haram fighters pushing back Nigerian government forces in the country’s restive Borno state, the Associated Press reports.
Climate change has reduced its surface in recent years, but it contains many islands and islets used by fishermen and its banks have dense vegetation, which makes infiltrations by Boko Haram Islamists into Chad much easier. Last month, a girl thought to be about 12 years old killed six people in Nigeria when the explosives she was carrying went off outside a bus station.
It was the second video purportedly released by the group this week.
