Lalitgate: Sushma Swaraj refutes all charges; challenges anyone to produce proof
Swaraj also told the chair that she had been waiting or a long time to speak about all the allegations levelled against her. “I have been looking for an opportunity to speak in Parliement, but was unable to because of the ruckus created by the opposition she said”. She said that she didn’t ask the British government to provide travel documents but the latter itself passed the documents based on their rules.

“It is unfortunate that my closest friends in Opposition are levelling charges against me”. Lalit Modi’s wife is suffering from cancer for the last 17 years. The minister said Congress had raked up a “non-issue” to stall key proceedings of the house and had done “injustice” to her by refusing to hear “her side of the story”. That is why those who have always supported me are now demanding my resignation. “If I had recommended the UK government to grant travel documents to Lalit Modi, then I would have written that clearly”, the minister told the House. Medical team said Ms Modi’s treatment is life threatening & her husband must b present.
The Opposition, led by the Congress, has been adamant on Sushma Swaraj’s resignation along with that of Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje over the Lalit Modi row.
“Terming her action to be a humanitarian one, Sushma said”, If Sonia Gandhi had been in my place, would she have left a woman cancer patient to die? “If I had requested or recommended, then the British Government would have answered the Economic Times query accordingly”, said Swaraj.
“Help has been extended to that lady who is the citizen of India, who was not involved in the crime (IPL money laundering)”.
