Lalu demands apology from Narendra Modi for his shaitaan remark

Bihar’s Grand Alliance leaders-Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD Chief Lalu Prasad, on Tuesday accused BJP of trying to “communalise” the atmosphere in the poll-bound state, alleging that the party is in panic fearing “defeat”.

The former Bihar chief minister alleged that the people of the state are fully aware about a “talkative” Prime Minister’s constant silence on core issues of price rise, unemployment and black money. He also added his political rivals in Bihar looks for a new word in their dictionary to abuse him every morning.

Referring to the mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) repeatedly as the mahaswarthbandhan (grand opportunistic alliance) in the course of his speeches in Munger, Begusarai, Samastipur and Nawada district, Modi said: “These parties (Congress, RJD and JD(U))have returned to seek votes now”. Rubbing it in, he taunted, “We want to know how the shaitan got his address. He recognises that it was the shaitan in a manner that is similar to people recognising their relatives”. Remember what the scenario was in Bihar before 2005 – there was jungle raj everywhere. Modi had trashed Lalu’s explanation that he made the beef remark under the influence of “shaitan” (devil).

Lalu ji, elections come and go, but please remember these people of yaduvansh were with you.

“All this has exposed Modi’s mindset, desperation and his thoughts about the people of Bihar”, Nitish Kumar said. Cornering the RJD chief over his “beef-eating” remark, Prime Minister said, “Entire Yadhuvanshis (lineage of Yadavs) have been defamed through his (Lalu’s) allegations”.

And with this experiment proving successful, the party is banking on the game plan for Bihar as well.

“I can assure you that we will bring cattle smuggling to a complete halt”, he said.

The RJD chief, who had made the controversial remark in the aftermath of the Dadri lynching, made a quick about turn, saying his tongue seemed to have been possessed by the devil in a moment of weakness.

Modi said the biggest manifestation of the “jungle raj” was the high rate of crime, fear and kidnappings.

While Nitish has been busy countering BJP’s attack on his development track record and claims that Bihar has fared better than several BJP-ruled states, the electoral discourse has been dominated by Lalu.
