Lalu turned Gopalganj into mini-Chambal, says PM

The BJP, specially its leaders who have come back from Bihar, say that it’s still a very close fight, and except for the first phase of voting, it has done reasonably well. The party’s anxiety is reflected in the manner in which it is bringing issues like India’s “adversarial relations” with Pakistan and China into the campaign for the last few phases of the election. “Neither have they fulfilled any of the promises made during the Lok Sabha elections, nor have they given any example of good governance”, Nitish said.

“We have sought report from district magistrates of East and West Champaran regarding the remark of BJP President Amit Shah”, Additional Chief Electoral Officer R Lakshmanan told PTI.

Speaking to media persons after meeting with the Election Commission, Shri Naqvi said that RJD president Shri Lalu Yadav and Bihar Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar have been making provocative and personal statements against BJP leaders to communally polarize the situation in the Assembly polls.

“Had it been a BJP leader, the news would have been shown for a whole week and we would have been beaten up with all sorts of sticks…”

The campaigning for Bihar elections also included Sushil Modi accusing Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad Yadav of not taking proper action against Indian Mujahideen Yasin Bhatkal. There is also a growing sense that the composition of the council of ministers is skewed and not balanced enough, denying allies, states and elected BJP MPs their due.

However, he quickly adds that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rallies have sealed it in the BJP’s favour as “credibility is the biggest factor” in Bihar polls.

“These statements are a conspiracy to disturb communal harmony in the state”.

Later, talking to reporters, Shah defended his earlier statement that Pakistan will erupt into celebration if the NDA lost in Bihar saying there was no communal angle to his statement but merely a statement of fact.

“I will speak on this issue openly but after the elections”, he said. “It has again exposed his mindset for us”, said Lalu Prasad on Friday.

“Bilkul pagal ho gaya hai”. Am I a Prime Minister of Pakistan or Bangladeshi?

“In his desperation to win the losing battle of Bihar I am afraid he might lose India”, mR Kumar tweeted.

He was referring to the charge that people attending Modi’s rallies were paid participants. Mr Modi, addressing rallies in Gopalganj and Muzaffarpur on Friday, accused Mr Kumar of using the word “bahri (outsider)” for him only to gain in the ongoing Assembly election.
