But while we are often reminded about some of the heartbreaking or salacious headlines over the past 12 months, Google is proving what Internet users searched the most with their annual “year in search” list for 2015.

On Wednesday Google released its fascinating Year in Search and you might as well give up working for the rest of the day as you geek out on this data.
Another year, another list of top searches from the world’s most popular search engine.
The attacks on Paris were the most searched news event, but the execution of two of the Bali Nine came a very close second.
“Charlie Hebdo”, the French satirical magazine attacked by Islamic extremists in what triggered a global outpouring of solidarity, was the second most frequent global search overall, while “Paris” came fifth.
In the United States, we loved searching for Caitlyn Jenner.
National Basketball Association star Lamar Odom ranked number one for trending general searches.
Matt Cooke, head of Google’s News Lab in London, said: “Homegrown celebrities have generated a lot of interest in particular, while the passing of well-known figures made people want to learn more about them”.
It follows on from Facebook’s year in Review 2015 video – which also saw an Irish story take its place among the world’s biggest headlines of the year.
Earlier this month, Khloe revealed that she was at Cedars-Sinai to visit Kim, who gave birth at the hospital to her son, Saint. But they don’t know.
Caitlyn Jenner, the transgender reality-television star and former athlete who changed her name from Bruce in 2015, drew more than 366 million searches worldwide, beating out even Star Wars, whose 155 million searches spiked with the world premiere of the film franchise’s seventh instalment Monday. It was searched more than 155 million times.
Australians also searched for news on local surfer Mick Fanning’s shark attack, and Bali 9 drug smugglers Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan who were executed throughout the year.
