Running back Eddie Lacy isn’t the only Green Bay Packer who slimmed down in the offseason.

The turnaround will be quick, as the Browns practice only three times before hosting Atlanta on Thursday night at FirstEnergy Stadium. Among those still sidelined were QB Brett Hundley (ankle), LB Jake Ryan (hamstring) and C JC Tretter (illness). WR Jeff Janis had surgery for what he said was a broken right index finger, an injury he suffered in practice last week. What do you think is their biggest weakness at this point in time? “You’ve got to make the most of it”.

And while Aaron Rodgers and numerous starters sat, over 70,000 fans still made the trip to Lambeau for the first game of the year. “That’s the way you have to play”. “With each practice and each meeting, I feel like I’m getting closer and closer to being able to play without overthinking anything”.

Receiver Terrelle Pryor, however, should be ready to go after he dealt with some calf issues during practice this week. “To go back out there, it means the world to me”.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (12) jokes with cornerback Damarious Randall (23) during the training camp across from Lambeau Field.

The Browns trailed 10-5 at halftime.

With the combination of Nelson returning along with McCarthy calling the shots, it’s fair to assume this offense will be near the top of the league again, but the other side of the ball is a different story.

Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater played into the second quarter, finishing 6-of-7 for 92 yards, including a 49-yard touchdown pass to fourth-year wide receiver Charles Johson. We had some bumps and bruises in the game, but I don’t think it’s anything too significant.

Williams, a four-year college starter at North Carolina, struggled in his unofficial pro debut. An interception would taint the performance but nonetheless a 4-8, 67 yards passing and one interception performance isn’t a “fail” for a quarterback who hasn’t seen live action in over a year. The goal for Green Bay each year is to get from good to great or great to excellent.

At 24-years-old, Jayrone Elliott is trying to prove that he should get playing time for the Packers this season. They last met during the preseason in 2012, a 35-10 Browns win in Green Bay.

As a rookie, Janis played in just three games while making two catches in 2014. He has thrown TD passes to everyone from veteran tight end Jared Cook to undrafted rookie running back Brandon Burks, and in all sorts of forms and fashions.
