Land Rover Discovery Sport 2015 launching today in India

On Wednesday, a new SUV named as the new Discovery Sport has been launched by the Tata Motors owned Jaguar Land Rover (JLR).

Top-end HSE Luxury variant packs in a more powerful version of the 2.2-litre diesel engine. Making the chunky SUV an attractive proposition is the fact that it will also be offered in a 5+2 seating arrangement, as against its five-seat competitors – the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Volvo XC60.

Along along with this the vehicle will also give a new level of versatility to the Land Rovers legendary all terrain capability. Safety equipment on the Discovery Sport includes seven airbags, ABS and Electronic Traction Control.

On the inside, the Discovery Sport gets a start/stop button, an 8-inch colour touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and rear seat entertainment.

The vehicle is equipped with 2.2L four cylinder turbocharged diesel engines, available in 140 kW SD$ and 110 kW TD4 derivatives. The auto has an 825W Meridian sound system with 17 speakers. A nine-speed transmission with automatic gearbox comes standard across all variants.

The exterior design of the Land Rover Discovery Sport is dynamic and instantly familiar, and is an evolutionary step up over the outgoing Land Rover Freelander 2.
