Lander Paes, Sania Mirza win; Purav Raja ousted
Top seeds Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis were knocked out of the French Open in the third round by the unseeded Czech pair of Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova on Sunday.

Meanwhile, American Madison Brengle and Tatjana Maria earned the biggest upset thus far when they took out Spanish pair and No. 13 seeds Anabel Medina Garrigues and Arantxa Parra Santonja, 6-2, 6-3. Hingis and Mirza were gunning for a non-calendar Slam after winning the women’s doubles title at Wimbledon, US Open and the Australian Open.
In the men’s doubles, the sixth-seeded Bopanna and Mergea got their match off to a positive start, taking an important 4-2 lead over their opponent and from there on, the duo broke Baker-Daniell’s serve twice to win the first set comfortably by a healthy 6-2 margin.
Later in the day, Rohan Bopanna and Leander Paes also open their men’s doubles campaigns. But the Czech duo, who had failed to close out the set in the first chance, wrapped it up the next time to win the set 6-3. The Indo-Croat duo’s dominance continued in the second set and they hardly broke sweat to clinch the match with a break of serve out of four opportunities that came their way.
Paes-Matkowski won 63 of the 105 total points played, hit 2 winners to none from their opponents and converted three of the four break points received.
Bopanna and Mergea, on the other hand, did not lose serve even once as they won against the unseeded New Zealand-American duo. The Indian and his Polish partner eventually won the tie-breaker 7-4 to storm into the quarter-finals.

The second set also went into the tie-break, where Paes and Matkowski managed to held on to their nerves to wrap up the match in style.
