Landing a rocket is great, but will it save money?
The landing of the first stage of the Falcon 9 rocket took place at Florida’s Cape Canaveral at about 7:40 p.m. central time after a 10-minute flight. Spacex has also suffered some major losses in its quest for successful landing of rockets.

When the rocket landed, a SpaceX commentator announced, “The Falcon has landed”.
Safely landing these rockets can save companies a lot of money, said Carissa Christensen, managing partner at the consulting firm Tauri Group. As the second stage of the rocket separated, the first stage, also called the booster, made its way back to the launch pad.
Moments later, flight controllers and employees at SpaceX’s California headquarters erupted in cheers as television cameras showed the rocket making a pinpoint vertical landing at a former Air Force missile launch site located about nine kilometers from the launch pad.
SpaceX’s rocket deployed 11 satellites for telecommunications company ORBCOMM of Fort Lee, N.J. after lifting off from Cape Canaveral, Fla.
NASA, the US space agency congratulated team SpaceX for this achievement.
This week’s Falcon 9 launch, the first since a rocket explosion doomed its June launch (the Falcon 9 is unmanned), went off near-perfect, with 11 satellites launched into orbit on behalf of Orbcomm, a communications company. NASA said in a tweet.
It is, no doubt, a big win for CEO Musk and SpaceX, but it’s not the first time when a rocket has landed successfully on earth after launching into space.
With the stiff competition between Blue Origin and SpaceX, a ride to space could get a lot cheaper.

“Lower launch costs mean more space-related endeavors, more startups, more space tourism, more space businesses”, he said.
