Langer has no immediate interest in full-time Australia role
Australia coach Darren Lehmann will step aside to allow Justin Langer to guide the team during a one-day tournament in the Caribbean next year.

Lehmann, who had said in October 2014 that Langer would be his successor, confirmed the development on the Cricket Australia website, but said he would be back for the Sri Lanka tour that follows the tri-series, also involving South Africa, in West Indies.
Langer, now coaching Western Australia in the Sheffield Shield and the Perth Scorchers in the Twenty20 Big Bash League, will fill the job at worldwide level for the first time.
Langer is one of the most respected and well liked figures in Australian cricket, with his strong work ethic and ability to connect with his players making him a flawless candidate to coach Australia. “I think we let ourselves down this year, 2013 was a different scenario where we were changing the whole setup, last time was disappointing and you’d love to have a crack at that, but you’re guided by results along the way”.
Lehmann will take the job back when Australia will tour Sri Lanka later and Lehmann will spend the time at the Cricket Academy and will see the youngsters for the future.
“There’s no immediate plans at all [to hand over the reins] but it just gives me a longer break”.
“I haven’t got any date in mind, hopefully I’ll go for a while yet”, Lehmann said. Langer seems next in line to replace Lehmann in the long run, and this will give Langer and the players a chance to get to know each other.
“We obviously play the conditions really well at home”.

After the Melbourne Test, Australia play West Indies in the third and final Test in Sydney before heading to New Zealand for two Tests in February. The former Australian opener has in the past worked as a specialist batting coach with the Australian team. “I think his record speaks for itself as a coach”. It’s just a chance to get JL into the system and let him have the reins for a trip. Pat Howard, CA’s Executive General Manager Team Performance, believed that the new role would help Langer develop his coaching skills.
