LAPD arrests suspects in death of UCLA student
– Two people were behind bars Monday in connection with the killing of a UCLA student whose body was found after a fire at a Westwood apartment, Los Angeles police announced. Marquez, who according to UCLA is a fifth-year undergraduate student, was being held on $1 million bail. “Investigators examined forensic evidence and witness’s statements, which linked 22-year-old Medina and 22-year-old Marquez to the murder of Ms Delvesco”, authorities said.

DelVesco was remembered as a “fearless giver” with a “contagious spirit”, Pi Beta Phi chapter president Jacquie Medeiros said in a statement. Both are being held in the Van Nuys Police Station jail.
An autopsy had been scheduled for last week to determine the cause of her death.
Police believe the fire was set to cover up Andrea’s murder, a crime committed just days before she was due in court to answer for charges she possessed meth, mushrooms, ecstasy and LSD with an intent to distribute. Marquez was arrested Sunday near his apartment on Strathmore Drive.
DelVesco’s identity was identified a day after the fire by her sorority, Pi Beta Phi.
Medina was arrested Saturday at his home in Fresno, the LAPD said.
DelVesco, who was from Austin, Texas, and was entering her fourth year at UCLA studying psychology and Spanish, was facing drug-related charges at the time of her death.
Los Angeles Fire Department Arson investigators suspected DelVesco died under suspicious circumstances, which prompted the homicide investigation.
