The abuse report was anonymous, and it has been confirmed that Los Angeles DCFS has interviewed Pitt and Jolie, and plan to interview the children as well.
“We have no criminal investigation that we are actively pursuing”, said Sgt. Barry Montgomery to THP.
Amara Suarez, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, said the agency could not confirm whether it was investigating Pitt or the well-being of the former couple’s children.
TMZ says the case was referred over to the Federal Bureau of Investigation on Thursday due to the fact that the alleged incident happened in the air while the family was on a plane from France last Wednesday.
Pitt is accused of being verbally and physical abusive to one of his children withAngelina Jolie last Wednesday on their private plane while their other kids were present, a source previously told PEOPLE.
He takes the matter very seriously and says he did not commit any abuse of his children.
Initial attempts to reach representatives for Jolie and Pitt were not successful.
The 40-year-old posted a statement on her verified Instagram page a day after Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt, amid some media reports that Cotillard and Pitt may have been romantically involved. “I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time”.
Confirming the divorce news, Offer revealed the actress had filed for “dissolution of marriage”, adding the decision was made for “the health of the family”.
Jolie, 41 and Pitt, 52, married in 2014 after a decade together and have six children.
