Larry the Cat will remain at 10 Downing Street

Indian food got a blast of publicity as Britain’s now former Prime Minister David Cameron made a decision to go for some spicy non-vegetarian and vegetarian favorites from the popular restaurant Kennington Tandoori in central London, as his “last supper” at 10 Downing Street, before handing over the reins of government to incoming prime minister Theresa May.

Instead, he will be in place to welcome Cameron’s successor, Theresa May, and her husband Philip- while trying to keep the famous residence and offices vermin-free. Nobody else had a vote on the matter, because in parliamentary systems the leader of the ruling party gains a preferential right to lead the nation. Larry later became the first official Chief Mouser of the residence.

On Wednesday, Cameron reminisced about his six-year reign. “The residents of No. 10 Downing Street have enjoyed meals from the Kennington Tandoori since the restaurant opened in 1985 and the KT would hope that they continue to do so”, the restaurant said.

“They sometimes kick the red boxes full of work”.

Over the years, the prime minister’s office has been at 10 Downing Street but the family home has been next door as it is more spacious.

Larry the Cat takes it easy on Downing Street..

Larry, who has been described as having “a high chase-drive and hunting instinct” is a rescue cat from London’s Battersea Dogs and Cats Home and was chosen by Downing Street staff.

After TV crews repeatedly spotted mice sprinting across Cameron’s doorstep in 2011, the premier took his family to a south London animal shelter and picked Larry.

Mrs Ross, from Warsash, told the Echo: “I’ve loved watching him sitting there as all the important people pass him and always wonder what he is thinking”.

The present – which initially sparked security fears – came just hours after Mr Cameron had expressed his “love” for the Larry in his closing speech in the Commons and was pictured with the brown and white Tabby lying in his lap.
