Las Vegas Club sold to owners of The D, Golden Gate
An announcement by the Las Vegas Club in May 2015, of its intent to open a 13,810-square-foot pharmacy that would sell packaged liquor on the eastern side of the casino was strongly opposed by neighboring casinos.

In an emailed statement, D Las Vegas owner Derek Stevens said he and his brother Greg purchased “the real estate and the building” of the 86-year-old sports-themed hotel-casino.
The Las Vegas Club will close for renovations, but that date has not been announced.
The Las Vegas Club casino-hotel in downtown Las Vegas will close just after 11:59 p.m. Wednesday and take its name with it.
The Stevens brothers have been “pretty aggressive” in acquiring downtown casinos according to UNLV’s Center for Gaming Research director, David Schwartz, who said he wasn’t surprised by the sale which has bigger implications.
The property was sold by the Tamares Group, owners of the Plaza, for an undisclosed price. In addition, the executive pointed out that PlayLV is determined to focus its attention on its Plaza property.
Derek Stevens said the transaction does not have to be approved by Nevada gaming regulators since the gaming aspects were not acquired. “In the interim, until closure of the Las Vegas Club for renovations by its new owner, PlayLV will continue to run the day-to-day operations of the Las Vegas Club”, Jossel said.
The Las Vegas Club’s 400-room hotel which was shuttered for two years is also part of the deal.
The owners of The D and Golden Gate have added to their downtown casino portfolio. Clark County records indicate the property sold for $40 million, but it was not immediately clear if that included the business inside.

“The Tamares Group, owner of the Las Vegas Club, and PlayLV, its operator, had been working on various development prospects for the Las Vegas Club, but it is clear that the sale of the property provides a greater opportunity for the future of the company, its staff and the Fremont Street neighborhood”.
