In its filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Friday, American said it expects a capacity increase of approximately 1% on its mainline routes in 2015, much of which is the result of a 3% reduction in departures.

The two airlines merged in December 2013 and made a decision to keep the better-known American name.

The Department of Justice announced recently that it was investigating whether airlines in the US colluded on their expansion plans, amidst concerns from advocacy groups for consumers and politicians that the industry was trying to extend the recent run of record profits by controlling the capacity to keep their airfares elevated.

The company still must reach joint collective bargaining agreements with certain work groups and combine technical systems related to flight movement and dispatch. (NYSE:UAL) decreased 2.4% in previous session as released a nationwide ground stop Wednesday, uncertain domestic flights for around 90 minutes following what the airline described as a network connectivity issue, but the ensuing delays were expected to have a minor impact on Hawaii flights.

Maya Leibman, American’s chief information officer, said in a media briefing that the world’s largest airline by traffic has taken several steps to mitigate the risk. They wouldn’t put a dollar figure on what the technology integration will cost, but Leibman said, “We have not spared expense in order to ensure that we have the quality that we need for something like this”. “They’ll be able to check in at any American counter rather than having to know to go to a US Airways counter and an American counter”.

American said it is taking three months to move US Airways’ flight reservations into American’s system instead of an overnight switch to minimize risk.

Preparations began even before American and US Airways finalized their merger in December 2013.

Sell-Side brokerage firms have a price target of $59.291 on shares of American Airlines Group, Inc. That shouldn’t impact more than 10 percent of US Airways’ existing reservations, because few people book that far ahead.

The airline has hired more than 600 airport agents and nearly 1,300 reservations agents to boost those ranks and to cover for the employees who will be gone for training. The airline will still have numerous systems to merge, but most should be out of sight for passengers, such as flight crew management and maintenance systems. American affirmed its forecast for revenue from passengers per available seat mile.
