Last Gunman Killed In Kabul Attack
KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) – Militants stormed a building housing an global aid organization in Kabul, provoking an overnight firefight with security forces in which three gunmen were killed and six civilians were wounded, Afghan officials said Tuesday.

“All three assailants were gunned down by security forces”.
The Associated Press reported that a district police chief and an army general were among those people killed in the attack.
It said its staff had been safely evacuated. No group has claimed responsibility.
An Interior Ministry official said initial reports indicated one person had been killed and six wounded in the attack, with 31 people rescued from the area.
Afghan police have blocked all roads leading to Shar-e-Now.
The attack on CARE International “is the deliberate targeting of civilians and constitutes a war crime”, Amnesty said, calling for an independent probe to bring the perpetrators to justice.
At least 24 people were killed and 91 wounded on Monday in a double suicide bombing in central Kabul during late afternoon rush hour, the latest assault on the Afghan capital.
Afghan forces are under continuous assault around the country by militants allied to the Taliban that seek to reimpose a conservative Islamic state.
The suicide bomber attacked shortly after 11 pm (1900 GMT) in a busy shopping area, where shops were open till late ahead of the Eid holidays.
Two weeks ago, fighters attacked the American University in Kabul, killing 13 people. The area is home to several guest houses frequented by foreign diplomats.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the earlier attack, adding that it had killed tens of soldiers and officers in its recent efforts to damage the security elite in Kabul.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said his group had carried out the attack.
The ability of the Taliban to conduct several coordinated attacks in Kabul over a short period of time has put a lot of pressure on the Western-backed Afghan government which struggles to reassure its people that it can guarantee their safety and security.

The Taleban have also closed in on Kunduz – the northern city they briefly seized a year ago in their biggest military victory since the 2001 USA invasion – leaving Afghan forces stretched on multiple fronts.
