Trying to shy away from the P-word as just more free advertising for Amazon, other retailers have taken to calling Prime Day “Black Friday July”, said Howard Schaffer, general manager of Offers.com.

Amazon tweeted that it’s aware of the issues and working to resolve them.

US customers will find steep discounts on TVs, including a Samsung Curved 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart TV ($649.99), a 32-inch Roku Smart TV ($119.99) and a 32-inch LED TV ($99.99). Only U.S. and United Kingdom customers were known to register complaints. In the first eight hours of Prime Day in the USA, members bought over 196,000 pairs of shoes, and more than 270,000 toys. “But the idea of asking customers to pay extra in order to save money just doesn’t add up for us”, Walmart said in a blog post previous year.
Amazon’s Prime Day is finally here. By 6:30 a.m., she had picked up a Silhouette Cameo, an electronic cutting machine used for arts and crafts projects, for $50 off at $179.97.
An Amazon spokeswoman said that a problem with adding certain “lighting deals” to an Amazon shopping cart had been resolved early this morning. But there were some deals that day that Amazon surely didn’t want you to see: the deals from competitors in the retail space.
Wal-Mart is not only offering massive discounts on online shopping but also free shipping on all online orders for five days beginning Jul 11. It will offer discounts throughout July on a host of products online.
Shoppers with an Echo device were able to use Amazon’s voice- assistant Alexa to make purchases. There was online grumbling a year ago that the deals were unimpressive, that deal items ran out too fast and were only available for a limited time.

Last year’s Prime Day was plagued with complaints about deals on things that “nobody really wanted” or deals that sold out too quickly. The company also said it got hundreds of thousands of new Prime signups.
