The group’s leader warned that their attacks “can engulf all of India” if the issue of Kashmir’s divided rule is not resolved.

The United Jehad Council said that by accusing Pakistan of every attack, India neither succeeded in maligning the Kashmir freedom struggle nor would it gain anything in the future.
Pakistan has strongly condemned the incident.
Mr. Sharif told his Indian counterpart that Pakistan and India were both suffering from the menace of terrorism and “Pakistan have faced such attacks in the past”.
Incidentally, the Pathankot attack came just a week after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unscheduled visit to Lahore to show a goodwill gesture for improving bilateral ties.
Five gunmen and seven Indian soldiers have been killed during four days of siege at the Pathankot air base, in the northern state of Punjab, near the Pakistan border.
The Indian defence minister said that an investigation regarding the attack is underway, and once it is completed then terrorists information will be made public.
Mr. Sharif assured Mr. Modi that his government was investigating the leads provided by India to Pakistan’s National Security Adviser, Gen. (retd.) Janjua.
A report on The Hindustan Times claims India shared with Pakistan the intercepts of calls made to Pakistan-based handlers by the terrorists who attacked the Pathankot airbase.
“Pathankot air base attack has been carried out by the mujahideen associated with National Highway Squad”, a spokesman for UJC Syed Sadaqat Hussain said. “With the lives of six terrorists, Pakistan has managed to finish India’s self-respect”, it said.
Addressing a news conference after a visit to the forward base, he said the terrorists were neutralised in an operation that lasted for more than 36 hours since 3.30 AM on Saturday but combing operations are still on. “We want that Modi”, the Sena demanded, seeking retribution for the attacks.
Indian Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar said on January 5 that six attackers were killed and that a search operation was under way to make sure no militants remain on the facility. He said the two countries share a common history and should remain committed to a sustained dialogue process.

“One of the terrorists still has a body vest where they (security forces) can see a grenade stuck…” “The casualties of the security personnel are very unfortunate… the aim was to neutralize them or catch them without loss of assets”.
