“To put me in this situation – what I’ve been through coming here and just getting thrown into the fire, it’s insane”, Rodgers told reporters after the game.

Roberto Aguayo kicked a 38-yard just when the game ended and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Carolina Panthers 17-14 on Monday night. The Bucs didn’t have a large number of penalties (five for 40 yards), but the ones they had were costly. Monday night he added two more missed field goals to that total in one of the ugliest and closest primetime games of the 2016 season.

“Look at these guys, they’re happy”, Aguayo said.

Look, it’s not just this terrible play call, there any been many many others throughout the course of the 2016 season, however this one play seemed to be the one that should seal Shula’s fate. “I went to (defensive coordinator) Sean (McDermott) earlier in the week and said, ‘You know, if we can have him on the field, let’s have him, but let’s not overexert him”. “They made some plays and unfortunately we didn’t”.

“I knew how the game was going to go”, Rodgers said. “Maybe. But again for the circumstances and what they aligned in, that was the right play”.

This is only the third game Newton has missed since joining the Panthers as the No. 1 pick in 2011.

The defending NFC champions are in danger of not making the postseason coming off a 17-2 season.

Carolina’s Cameron Artis-Payne, filling in at running back for the still-injured Jonathan Stewart, scored a pair of second-half touchdowns to put the Panthers in front after they trailed 6-0 at half. Another was a pass to Rodgers.

“It’s been kind of the story of our losses”, said Olsen, who had a career-best 181 yards receiving on nine catches and would have been the story of this game had Carolina won. On third-and-4 from the Tampa Bay 44 with the score tied early in the fourth, Anderson couldn’t find an open receiver and took off. Anderson also lost a fumble.

Time of possession in the first quarter: 13:11 for the Bucs, 1:49 for the Panthers. Anderson completed 18-of-28 passes for 278 yards and two interceptions. The Bucs recovered at the Carolina 30.

Carolina kicker Graham Gano missed his only field goal attempt as he shanked a 43-yard attempt wide left. No harm, no foul. Through five games, he has converted 4 of 8 field goals.

It was 63 degrees at kickoff.

Also nominated for the award are Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, Colts quarterback Andrew Luck, Falcons running back Tevin Coleman and Lions cornerback Darius Slay. Suggested in the press box: The Attrition Bowl.

“This is a different group, nothing like previous year in terms of personnel and people and attitude and the way we do things”.

When asked Tuesday what caused the defensive breakdowns, coach Ron Rivera pointed to players pressing.

“We moved the ball when we wanted to and had a lot of good things happen, but we had bad plays at the wrong times”, Anderson said. “That’s probably the difference”.
