NASCAR will argue the sport is bigger than one, two or three personalities, and that the stable is full of young talent to carry stock vehicle racing deep into the future.

It was Johnson’s ninth finish outside the top 10 in his past 12 races – not the form his team hoped to have in chasing a seventh Sprint Cup title. But pit-road problems plagued him Sunday and he finished second.

“I’m curious to see why NASCAR called me over there”, Stewart said.

“We had control of the race”.

“There is something to them working together but I think there is something more in everybody believing in each other and leaving the egos and all the bullshit at the house and coming here and work together as a team”, he said.

Sprint Cup drivers and teams have gone all out to dress up for the Southern 500 tonight, pulling out beloved paint schemes to honor stock vehicle racing’s colorful, vibrant past. He reached the final race in Homestead previous year among the last four standing and thinks everyone in the program has worked to improve their chances. At one point, Harvick fell 11 spots from first to 12th after a 16.6-second stop.

Hamlin was first off pit road during the yellow flag but lost the lead to Larson soon after the restart. We will be making predictions, breaking down the race, analyzing and just having a good time.

Harvick was asked how he balances the positive and with tough criticism for his team.

After another race filled with mistakes on pit road, Kevin Harvick made it clear he’s not happy with his pit crew.

The Mayetta, NJ native only led 28 laps; in fact there were three other drivers who had more including runner-up Kevin Harvick who topped everyone with 214. “You’ve got to get after it on pit road and do your job”. Truex Jr. came out in front and Harvick was able to get by Larson for second and focus on catching the Jersey native.

However, he still finished.607 seconds behind Truex. Daniel Suarez was third and Kyle Larson, last week’s Sprint Cup victor at MI, was fourth. Not with just one regular season left and the playoffs beginning September 17 when winning and losing will take on the utmost of importance.

On Lap 203, Brian Scott was four laps down when Stewart attempted to pass him.

“I feel bad. We’ve changed people there”. “I’m not sure if he thought I was trying to hold him up”.

When that didn’t work at first, Stewart looked like he nudged Scott’s bumper and sent him spinning. Apparently he got mad at me.

“I wish it would happen a lot more often”.

“It’s amusing, we’ve had the best auto in a lot of races and not won, and tonight for the most part of the race, we didn’t have the best vehicle”, Truex said”.

Stewart said he’s been backed by the beverage company for some time and has taken part in many unique promotions on their behalf. Stewart’s response to the incident?

“It’s been a good season”, Truex said. It was sweet redemption for him at the 1.366-mile track where in 10 previous career starts he had led a total of almost 100 laps but the best finish he could manage was fifth. “Southern 500 – been wanting to win this thing for a long time”.

“I was trying to let those guys go that had newer, fresher tires”, said Scott in the garage.
