Latest film from superstar actor Rajinikanth sends India into a frenzy

Tamil action drama Kabali has been a success in the United States, reportedly raking in millions from preview shows alone. Kabali movie gained positive word on background music and screenplay. Bathing the Kabali’s huge poster with gallons of milk was yet another insane fandom to be witnessed as bathing idols of gods is an Indian tradition.

Off-spinner Ashwin, who hails from the Tamil Nadu capital, is known to be a huge Rajinikanth fan. Now all we can say is, Kabali isn’t any “regular” film.

Bilkulonline.com, Mumbai, July 22: South Indian mega-star Rajinikanth’s latest release “Kabali” hit Mumbai with thousands of fans celebrating at the Aurora Theatre in King’s Circle and other parts of Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai on Friday.

In Tamil Nadu, “Kabali” collected Rs.21.5 crore on its opening day beating earlier records though trade analysts attributed the record collections to tax exemption for the film in the state.

The film witnessed nearly 90 percent occupancy across South India, whereas the Hindi version, which released across the rest of the country, saw anywhere between 40 to 60 percent occupancy. Several social media took on B-Town biggest stars such as Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan whose recent releases created a rage among the audience.

The film is off to a flyer in North America as well. But, after two and a half hours of heavy Rajini magic, we nor too many from the audience paid attention to this trick of the director. Just check out what happened to Baahubali – it earned as much as Rs 22 cr over the opening weekend and caught the entire movie fraternity by surprise.

Tickets for Kabali, which stars Rajinikanth as an ageing gangster, sold out well before the release and were changing hands on the black market for up to Rs 5,000.

Shubhra Gupta, one of India’s leading film critics, said the Rajinikanth phenomenon was not easy to explain. But what remains a fact is that Rajinikanth’s “Kabali” will not be a “Lingaa 2″.

The film reportedly made box office history in the USA by making it the highest viewership for an Indian movie.

They insisted that they wanted to watch the movie along with the actor’s fans in a Chennai theatre as promised but were offered a screening elsewhere.
