There’s a new PlayStation console on the way in the form of the PS4 Pro.

You can see one Xbox One owner ask the same question in a recent Tweet above, but then again what kind of HDR are Sony exactly offering to PS4 users?

The update also comes with features for the as-yet unreleased PS4 Pro, specifically in regards to streaming content.

Cinephiles rejoice: Sony’s rolling out a new system update (codenamed Shingen) to the PlayStation 4 that will bring High Dynamic Range (HDR) support to all PS4 models.

“What’s New” Update – The What’s New section isn’t really used (or cared for) but has been updated so you can see what friends are now playing, what parties they are in and trending screenshots and videos around the world. If you do have an HDR set, however, the new feature works with both gaming and entertainment content that supports HDR. For the PS4 Pro, the 1080p streaming will be available for Remote Play on PC/Mac and other compatible devices as well as for Share Play. However, Twitch reduced the stream framerate to 30 frames per second (fps). The Quick Menu has been reduced in size so it no longer occupies the whole screen, while a Folder system has at long last been introduced, allowing gamers to organise their games library. For YouTube, you can toggle between 30 and 60fps. The left column in the menu includes the new Activity Feed.

Data can be transferred from an old PS4 to a new one through a wired LAN connection.

It increases the colour gamut available to developers to add to their games, and the ability to render deeper black levels and brighter whites on TVs that support it. Netflix will also offer HDR video playback – along with 4K – on the Pro after launch. You will be able to transfer games, saved data and user info.
