Latest Poll: Clinton Gains 8 Percent Lead Over Trump
“He’s taken the Republican Party a long way from “Morning in America” to ‘Midnight in America, ‘” Clinton said of Trump Thursday, in a speech where she promised to be a “president for Democrats, Republicans, and Independents”. Even before Nielsen’s final metrics were released, though, Trump on Friday afternoon crowed about his victory in the ratings battle, boasting that he “beat her by millions on television – millions”.

She faced the challenge of following a passionately persuasive address on her behalf by Obama, much as Obama had to follow a similarly successful speech by Bill Clinton four years ago.
Around the edges, there were some disagreements, but Clinton and Sanders never doubted that either of them would be an infinitely better president than Donald Trump.
Many observers have said Trump’s convention in Cleveland outlined a very dark depiction of the United States. That group of voters has eluded Mrs Clinton and was perhaps a hard sell after a Democratic convention that heavily celebrated racial and gender diversity.
In the end, Obama argued, the changes the country actually wants are possible only under Clinton.
Trump attracted 32.2 million viewers while only 29.8 million viewers watched Clinton.
“I’ll tell you really it’s not up to the administration and certainly not up to me personally to decide on the suitability of a presidential candidate”, Mr Clapper said on Thursday at the Aspen Security Forum, declaring that voters decide who will be “cleared for everything” through the nomination process.
Campaign spokesman Nick Merrill said the newly-disclosed breach affected a Democratic National Committee voter analysis programme used by the campaign and other organisations.

Bill Clinton will accompany his wife and Kaine on the campaign swing. Democrats hammered home those themes this week with an array of politicians, celebrities, gun-violence victims, law enforcement officers and activists of all races and sexual orientation.
Their goal is to turn out the coalition of minority, female and young voters that twice elected President Barack Obama while offsetting expected losses among the white male voters drawn to Trump’s message. “Mike Barnicle said the Democrats” “convention this week was much more a reflection of America, the America that we all live in, than was last week in Cleveland”.
Trump’s speech at the RNC one week earlier averaged 30 million viewers across the same channels…
“But behind the glitter lies this stark truth: In Hillary Clinton’s America – things get worse”.
York wrote, “Just the mention of Hillary Clinton has prompted boos all across Philadelphia in the last few days”.
Kaine said “there’s still an terrible lot of fix work” to be done on the economy, particularly with regard to job creation, but he insisted, “We don’t have a single issue in this country that we can’t tackle”. He said job creation would be the top priority if Ms Clinton wins the White House.
“That was indicative of the lack of substance in the Republican candidate and foretelling of the support Secretary Clinton and the Democratic Party is (drawing) and will continue to draw”, she said.
Clinton’s daughter, Chelsea Clinton, will introduce her mother.
And immediately after Clinton’s speech Thursday, the Republican nominee slammed her for not using the term Islamic terrorism.

Kyle Kondik, the non-partisan editor of the political “Crystal Ball” newsletter at the University of Virginia, said he wouldn’t be surprised if the result of the two conventions is that the polling everts back to where it was a month ago, with Clinton up three to five points nationally.
