Williamson (95 not out) wasted no time in getting into his groove and along with Latham, he took New Zealand to 206 for one at tea.
With Zimbabwe’s pace-shy seamers failing to threaten on a placid pitch, Latham put on an opening partnership of 169 with Martin Guptill, who made 87.
In the seventh over of the final session, Latham completed his second century of the series, taking 190 balls to get to the landmark.
A little while later, Williamson brought up his half-century.
A string of Graeme Cremer (0-108) overs either side of lunch brought milestones as Latham and Guptill’s partnership reached 100 before each batsmen registered their fifties off the Zimbabwe captain.
Latham waited until he had tamely acknowledged his hundred before playing a false stroke though a waft to Chamu Chibhabha missed the edge and an uppish push fell clear of gully before he refocused – until the penultimate delivery of the day.
Williamson needed 74 balls for a perfunctory fifty and continued to maintain the highest strike rate [74.21] as he toyed with Zimbabwe’s seven bowlers.
The first match concluded on Sunday after the Black Caps sealed an innings and 117 runs victory over the hosts with a day to spare.
Ross Taylor (173*) and Watling (107) all scored centuries in the demolition.
New Zealand’s charge was led by openers Martin Guptil (87) and Tom Latham (78 not out).

They, like the Zimbabwean bowling attack, find themselves in a no-win situation.
