Laura Whitmore officially signs up for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’

Whitmore will be joining Pop Idol victor Will Young and former Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls on the show, which returns to BBC One this autumn.

Laura Whitmore is the latest celeb confirmed to be taking part in this year’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.

The leggy blonde revealed all as she shimmied in to Nick Grimshaw’s Radio One breakfast show this morning to make the announcement. I’ve known for a while but It’s so secretive. “Anyone who has ever met me knows this”, she said. “I wish the team well and look forward to tuning in later this year as well as continuing to work with ITV on other shows”.

“I was waiting for the right time, they asked me before and I was afraid they weren’t going to ask me again but thankfully they did”. Now there will be no microphone or band, just me, my partner and the dance floor.

Ed will be the first male politician to take part on the main show, following Liberal Democrat’s Vince Cable’s appearance on the 2010 Christmas special.

Other stars rumoured to be appearing on this year’s Strictly are former EastEnders star Jonny Labey, Birds Of A Feather actress Leslie Joseph, Geordie Shore’s Charlotte Crosby, Downton Abbey’s Michelle Dockery, pop star Louise Redknapp, American singer Anastasia, TV presenter Kate Humble, and even Cheryl Cole, which would be absolute ratings dynamite.
