Laurie Holden leaves NBC drama ‘Chicago Med’
The actress appeared in the show’s backdoor pilot on Chicago Fire last season, playing Dr. Hannah Tramble, an edgy ER surgeon.

“Sometimes, we must take tough choices and, for family reasons, not doing Chicago Med is one of those for me at this time”.
Topics to expect, he suggested, include organ donation, sex education in schools, abortion, etc. “Everything that is touched on our medical or physical lives is fair game for us”, Wolf said, adding, “Ripped from the zeitgeist” might be the more accurate description of the series’ intention. “A lot of work goes into it, a lot of people pitch in, but the end result, we’re really, really proud of what we come up with and hope to continue that for sure going forward”.
Laurie Holden is probably best known for her TV role of Andrea in AMC’s The Walking Dead.
Emmy nominee Oliver Platt and Golden Globe victor S. Epatha Merkerson head up the cast of the ensemble drama. Instead of recasting Holden’s character, Chicago Med is now casting for three different female roles: an emergency pediatrician, a charge nurse, and a young, first-year resident. They will tackle unique new cases inspired by topical events, and familiar faces from the Chicago police and fire departments will intertwine as this third team of Chicago heroes hits the ground running.
Sadly, Laurie Holden has decided to move on from Chicago Med after filming just the pilot episode. “Franchises have spun off shows before but never into an active matrix if you will of these shows that are being aired”, said Platt.
