Lawler vows to keep it simple

In the night’s featured pay-per-view attraction at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena, welterweight champion (27-10 MMA, 12-4 UFC) defended his title for a second time after narrowly edging (30-9 MMA, 7-5 UFC) via. However, when that happens, there’s no chance he will be broken in the fight because as his fifth-round effort against Condit proved, “Ruthless” is perhaps the most terrifying fighter on the planet when placed in a compromising situation.

2016 has started off with a bang for the UFC, but it also started off with a whole lot of controversy, as most fans and even the UFC boss himself thought the wrong man won in Saturday’s title fight between Robbie Lawler and Carlos Condit.

Lawler was among those who hung on to his title, winning a similarly grueling decision over Rory MacDonald in his only fight of 2015.

Carlos Condit used body kicks to slow Robbie Lawler and right hands to stun him in the first round of their welterweight championship bout in Las Vegas.

“We battled it out”.

In the first round, Condit showcased a volume game in which he successfully dropped Lawler middle of the fight. “I’m not dejected”, Condit said.

“It’s a fight. They’re going to lock us in the cage and me and Robbie Lawler are going to try to kill each other”, Condit said. Miocic celebrated his victory by running across the cage to White and UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta, yelling at them to “Give me my shot!”

If Condit, who received well-deserved plaudits for his performance on Saturday night, does choose to make this his final fight, he’ll do so with his head held high. Lawler swept the second and fifth. “So I’m just staying humble and I keep grinding away and concentrating on what got me here which is hard work and continue to improve”.

He’d had a brilliant career before UFC 195, having won the World Extreme Cagefighting welterweight belt as well as the interim UFC title, and he scored victories over some of the world’s most risky men. Finally, when analyzing toughness, Lawler and Condit are both extremely durable. It is definitely worth noting a fighter’s weaknesses, but it is not something that Lawler would do based off of his fighting style and past fights. “I knew he was going to come out guns-a-blazing. I fight and usually it turns out well for me”.

But he was more than willing to heap praise upon Condit, who did just about everything he wanted to do short of getting his hand raised.

After the fight, Miocic (14-2) called out UFC president Dana White to give him a title shot against the victor between the Fabricio Werdum-Cain Velasquez heavyweight title clash in February.
