Former New Orleans Saints defensive end Will Smith was shot 8 times and killed, including 7 shots in his back, according to the coroner’s report.

For now much of New Orleans agrees with Smith’s father- they’ve lost a hero in their city. But Smith never pulled out his own handgun, which remained loaded but unused in a compartment inside his Mercedes, he said. “An additional charge for Smith’s wife’s injury is pending further investigation”, the statement said.
But police said Tuesday that he used another weapon, a.45, to shoot Smith and his wife.
Suddenly, the Hummer drives up behind them and “violently” rammed into the SUV, shattering the back windshield. After, they got into their Mercedes SUV with another couple.

Peter Thomson, an attorney for the Smith family, gave an account of the shooting Wednesday based on his interviews with witnesses.
Thomson said there is no doubt Smith was murdered.
After police had earlier reported confiscating one weapon at the scene, Fuller suggested that another weapon was at the scene.
“How would my client know that to tell me that if someone didn’t brandish that firearm?” he said Wednesday. Fuller is expected to point to the evidence of a gun that was in Smith’s auto during the time of the shooting to help prove his client’s innocence.
“Now, tell me if that’s the behavior that’s consistent with someone who’s an animal out here looking for blood”, Fuller said. One of them was a loaded handgun that was recovered from Smith’s Mercedes SUV.
“(Racquel Smith) was actually telling the shooter, before the shooting occurred, ‘Leave us alone.
When he found out Sunday morning, he collapsed in the chair, attorney John Fuller said.
Police say Hayes’ Hummer H2 ran into the back of Smith’s Mercedes SUV, which then ran into a Chevy Impala carrying two of Smiths’ friends.
That case was settled in 2011 for an undisclosed “large” sum, attorney Ike Spears said.
Fuller insisted outside court Monday that Hayes will be vindicated once the full story emerges.
Mr Hayes, who has been charged with murder, said Smith was the aggressor.

According to Thompson, Smith and his passengers drove away after slamming on their brakes behind the Hummer, believing they did not cause any damage to the Hummer.
