Lupul’s struggles with injuries have already been well documented.

The veteran Maple Leafs winger, who missed the last 31 games of last season after undergoing surgery sports hernia surgery in February, remains sidelined on the eve of training camp.

“He’s very disappointed. He worked very hard at it this summer. We’ll just have to wait and see”.

The Toronto Maple Leafs will be opening up their training camp for the 2016-2017 National Hockey League season on Thursday, September 22, which also happens to be the first day of fall.

On the other hand, Lupul could come out and dismiss these reports and could get a second opinion from an independent doctor if he truly believes he is capable of playing this season.

All will head to Halifax for training camp with the exception of the eight players competing at the World Cup and injured reserve players like Joffrey Lupul and Stephane Robidas.

Lupul appeared in 46 games for the Leafs during the 2015/16 season, scoring 11 goals and adding three assists. “Accordingly, I will not be making any further comment at this time”.

The Maple Leafs’ highest paid forward, Lupul is still owed $9 million over the next two seasons after signing a five-year, $26.5 million contract with the club in 2013.
