Leafs goaltender Andersen suffers upper-body injury in Olympic qualifier
The Toronto Maple Leafs may start another season with a question mark in goal despite an off-season overhaul at the position after Frederik Andersen’s apparent injury suffered Friday in Denmark’s 2018 Olympic qualifier against Slovenia. After skating out of his crease to play the puck, he was hit by teammate Oliver Bjorkstrand.

The Toronto Maple Leafs may have reason for concern regarding goaltender Frederik Andersen.
The severity of the injury is not known at this time, but it appears from the video above that the Danish defender undercut Andersen, who landed all of his weight on his left glove hand.
The injury could derail plans for Andersen to backstop Team Europe at the World Cup in Toronto.

Andersen, who signed a five-year, million contract after being acquired from the Anaheim Ducks in June, will fly back to Toronto to be examined by Toronto’s doctors, per Elliotte Friedman. Team Europe opens training camp for the tournament Monday at Videotron Centre in Quebec City, Quebec. Thomas Greiss and Jaroslav Halak are the other goaltenders for the pan-European squad.
