League backs ref in Newton no-call
When the two-time Pro Bowler asked Hochuli about the call, Newton said he was told, “You’re not old enough to get that call”. This may be the result of the more constant use of play action calls on offense, which has improved the quality of his ability to be a truly effective dual-threat quarterback.

National Football League official Ed Hochuli is more or less known for his winding explanations of on-the-field rulings; it’s always interesting to see how he lands the plane. But Newton said that he was “ticked off” about it during his presser and cautioned other young quarterbacks about Hochuli.
But when you think about it, isnt life just one big business trip? Aww. Ed cracked a joke. We all come out of the wound toting a placenta lunchpail and a hard hat. “And the league might look at it?”
Newton’s reaction was animated in his discussion with Hochuli, but the Carolina player simply may be the victim of misunderstanding what the official told him.
The Panthers responded yet again as Newton found Olsen for the second time on the day in the end zone to take their first lead of the ball game at 17-16. “Yet he wants a flag for a little shove out of bounds”.
“My issue is … it’s a joke”, Felger said. “Dallas is going to kill us”. And now we’re going to have a league investigation?
The process would include determining if anyone in the area had a microphone on and see if any comments were picked up. There were guys open.
“Good lord. Really? It’s obviously a joke”.
“These complete strangers are reaching out and opening their hearts to us”, she said.
“Goofing around”, Felger said. Every time you see a deep ball thrown to Ted Ginn Jr you can not help but to old your breath before seeing whether or not he catches it. Philly Brown had Panther fans banging their heads against the wall as he dropped pass after pass during the preseason.
According to Dean Blandino, Hochuli denied making the comment, which could come back to bite the ref.
Coach Todd Bowles says Colon, injured during the Jets’ 24-17 loss to Philadelphia on Sunday, sprained the medial collateral ligament in one of his knees.
“I would have to send Jay in the huddle, and I would have to yell and scream at the refs, like, ‘This isn’t fair, ‘” Marshall said.
Newton, now in his fifth season, said it is frustrating when other quarterbacks get similar calls to go their way. Cam Newton might think he’s slick when hes tumbling over Texans, but in a couple weeks he’s going to realize that its not so easy to flip the bird to your opponents when your facing the Seahawks.

After the game, Newton said he was “baffled” by what Hochuli told him. I’m optimistic and always looking forward to next week.
