League, union push for Brady ruling
Brady’s boss, Bill Belichick, remains confident – at least with his actions – that New England’s franchise quarterback won’t have to serve the full four games of his ban.

A few years after that, while playing for the Ravens, Pollard laid a hit on Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski in the AFC title game, and the hit resulted in a high ankle sprain that caused Gronk to be severely limited in the Super Bowl against the New York Giants. The case was then transferred to New York, where the league had already filed papers.
Both the NFL and the union asked the court for a premotion conference, which Berman set for August 12, and an expedited decision on the case – one made by September 4, before the start of the NFL’s regular season opener.
Depending on who you speak to, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady either stands no chance in federal court or should prepare to play every snap of the 2015 NFL season. “I did nothing wrong, and no one in the Patriots organisation did either”.
Team owner Robert Kraft, who lashed out at the NFL a day earlier for upholding Brady’s suspension, also got loud applause when he came out on the field.
Brady also denied that he had destroyed his mobile phone to avoid giving it to NFL investigators, saying the flap was “manufactured” to distract from “zero evidence” against him in the scandal.
“I am disappointed he is not here”, Mara said Thursday, when the Giants reported to training camp.
Tom Brady posted a Facebook status as a reply to the announcement of NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell upholding his 4-game suspension. The focus now is on the conduct of the league and the commissioner, not the conduct of Tom Brady.
Kraft followed with an unscheduled address to the media gathered at Gillette Stadium for the opening of training camp and the team’s defense of its fourth Super Bowl championship.
The controversy began last January when footballs used by Brady and the Patriots’ offensive unit were found to be below NFL minimums during a playoff game against Indianapolis, making them easier to grip, grab and hold. Jeffrey Kessler, the lead attorney for Brady and the union, wasn’t concerned about Judge Kyle’s decision.
Goodell initially levelled the penalty on Brady after a 243-page report from lawyer Ted Wells, whom the NFL hired to investigate the matter.

“It is hard to imagine any person in Goodell’s position even attempting to serve as arbitrator under these circumstances, but that is exactly what he did”, the union said.
